Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner

Recently, I had the opportunity to assist a client with their Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner. Here are a few things you should know if you will become the owner or user of one at your home or your business.

Drivers
Drivers must be installed for the scanner to work. When doing so, be sure to disconnect the USB cable and connect only when the software installer requests it.

Ink Cartridge
This scanner is not multifunctional, which means no ink cartridges are required. Thus, you do not have to worry about buying ink when one runs out (or dies up from infrequent use) just to scan a document to your computer.

Lid
The scanner will operate with the lid up, which is excellent if you keep adding documents (since it lacks an ADF) or scanning a thick item such as a book. When making copies, remember that certain documents are not allowed due to copyrights.

PDF Software
Epson is nice enough to include PDF software with the scanner, but it is not enabled by default. You have to select it in the settings upon your first scan and then you are set for future scanning. Please note that if you try to install Adobe Acrobat, you may get a warning message telling you that a better PDF program is already installed so you no longer need install the software to use the Create from PDF option but will not have it for editing such as doing redactions on your scanned jobs. As the client did not need the Adobe Acrobat software, I did not try to remove the Epson suite and place the Adobe software first to see if it would now work in harmony.
