Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) is a method of allocating IP addresses for IP routing.
Class A supported 16,777,214 hosts
Class B supported 65,534 hosts
Class C supported 254 hosts
The Internet Engineering Task Force introduced CIDR in 1993 to replace the previous classful network addressing architecture on the Internet.
